About
Jabal Amman Association (JARA):
The Jabal
Amman Residents Association (JARA) was established on
the 7th of July, 2004, by the local residents of the old
neighbourhood of Jabal Amman, in order to maintain and
preserve its identity and ethnicity. They felt, the
neighbourhood was worth protecting, since it was a major
constituent of the modern history of Jordan and the new
Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
This neighbourhood is the most distinguished area of
Amman, on both, cultural and historical levels; thus, it
constitutes a major tourist attraction. Prominent
personalities such as the Late King Talal and his
family, which included prince Hussein who later became
King Hussein of Jordan; General John Bagot Glubb, better
known as Glubb Pasha and many other well-known Jordanian
personalities, such as, politicians; diplomats; business
leaders and industrialts, were residents of this very
special place and their abodes are still to be found to
this day, well intact.
